The ASDAR 2020 state conference was held last month as scheduled and the Peter Forney Chapter was well-represented. Among other activities, chapter members were busy attending informational seminars, business meetings, luncheons, fundraising, and viewing committee displays.

Chapter members really responded to the call for lap blankets! Joan Erickson, left, and Marilyn Tucker, right, helped put together the gift bags for our veterans. Over 150 bags were prepared for men and over 65 bags for women. Approximately 30 members answered the call from Betty Maurer and her helpers to prepare the bags for distribution. |

PETER FORNEY HOSTS VISITING NSDAR STATE REGENTS

On Thursday, March 9, 2017, Peter Forney members, Kathy Parker and Jo Ann McClellan, hosted New York State Regent Nancy Zwetsch; Illinois State Regent Sharon Frizzell; and Illinois First Vice Regent Lola DeGroff for a tour of the City of Montgomery, Alabama, prior to their attending the Alabama State Conference held in Auburn, Alabama. The out-of-state ladies were treated to a behind the scenes tour of Montgomery City Hall and a hundred year old mural of Montgomery’s cotton era; a private tour of the Alabama Governor's Mansion; lunch at the Montgomery Farmer's Market Cafe; shopping at Tucker's Pecan Company; a private meeting with Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange and a presentation of commemorative shadowboxes to both Regents; a tour of Archives and History Museum textile collection by Ryan Blocker and the “Voices” exhibition of the history of Alabama in the main museum; culminating with a self-guided tour of the Alabama State Capitol Rotunda and Senate Chambers and Jefferson Davis' White House of the Confederacy.
